We have been in North Carolina for a little over a month now. The time has flown by. We've had lots of fun exploring a totally different part the of county. We've been fishing, swimming, to the beach, gone on lots of frog hunts, and even made a few new friends. We've really enjoyed our time together as a family even if we only get a few moments with Glenn each day.
Father's Day was a lot of fun. The kids spent the week making cute cards for him and worked on a poster that ha them holding the letter D-A-D. They were so excited to give it to him. They even made him breakfast all by themselves-- cinnamon rolls and fruit salad with gummy treats for dessert ;)
The kids have loved fishing and do it often. In our first place we were right next to a big pond. Isaac became the official turtle catcher. He caught more turtles than fish. Bayley definitely keeps up with the boys. She always asks if she can cut the worms in half and bait the hook. Her job at the beach was to cut off the fish heads to use as bait. YUCK!! She's definitely our little tomboy...self proclaimed. In the same sentence she asks if she can play in the mud
but first she wants to find her lip gloss to put in her purse. She makes me laugh.
We are now living pretty close to the beach and have been able to take a couple excursions there. The water's beautiful and really warm compared to Nor Cal. Our last trip the kids saw a shark while they were fishing off the pier. Isaac even caught a baby shark. He's been telling everyone its a great white but I think it's a sharpnose shark.All the kids love the water but Noah is definitely our little fish. He loves the water. He asks daily to go to the pool..which we usually do. And because of that, Noah has officially started the transformation into the tanned skin, long curly bleach blond hair surfer boy...I love how blond he gets in the summer.
Frog hunts have also become a part of our daily life. When the sun starts to set the frogs come out and you don't even need to see them to believe it. They are so loud. There are toads and tree frogs. The tree frogs make a every loud sound that sounds a lot like a duck quacking. The kids and Glenn usually come back with 4-5 frogs which we keep for the night then let them go. Pet for a day. The closest thing the kids are gonna get to a pet right now.I've been able to keep up on my running thanks to a treadmill and three patient awesome kids who tag along with me everyday. It's nice to be able to incorporate it into our daily routine. There's a pretty nice gym here which kind of makes up for not being able to run outside..kind of. Glenn even gets some time every morning to go too.I think that pretty much sums it up for now. We are all doing well and are having a fun adventurous summer.
